How it works
A shared plain-text document that lives only on your devices.
Create
Your browser makes a document and its keys. Only a random document id is registered with our server. You are the root owner.
Edit, even offline
Every edit is stored on your device first. Nothing leaves it until another member is online at the same time.
Invite
An owner creates a link for a role (viewer, editor or owner) and sends it through any channel. Whoever opens it can only ask to join.
Approve
The owner sees the newcomer's name and safety code, checks in another channel that it really is them, and approves. Then the newcomer receives the keys.
Sync
Members who are online together connect directly to each other, trade what each is missing, verify every item and store it. Late joiners get everything from whoever is online.
Roles
Viewers read. Editors change the text. Owners also rename the document, set its format, invite people, change roles and remove members.
There are no accounts. Your identity is a pair of keys that stays in this browser; the name and picture next to Jot are derived from it.
